Alcatel has had a few device announcements coming out of IFA so far. The latest is the One Touch Hero which will be arriving with a 6-inch 1080p display and Android 4.2 along with a handful of accessories including a stylus, pico projector and e-ink case. Alcatel has said the One Touch Hero will be available beginning in October and in the meantime, they have offered details on the specs and other accessories.
The One Touch Hero will be powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz processor with 2GB of RAM, a 3400 mAh battery, 2 megapixel front-facing camera and 13 megapixel rear-facing camera. The handset will also be available in a single-SIM and dual-SIM model. The storage will vary by model and the single-SIM will have 8GB while the dual-SIM will have 16GB. Both will also have a microSD card slot.
Looking at some of these accessories and we find the MagicFlip case. This one will be available in blue or black and allows the user to get notifications by way of a series of LED lights. Those LED lights shine through the font of the case. The stylus is something that many are likely familiar with because of Samsung and the S Pen. And in fact, the stylus on the One Touch Hero sports similar looks to that of the S Pen and also slips into the phone in a similar place as the Galaxy Note II.
Alcatel has also unveiled the TV Link which will allow you to mirror the display of the phone on your television. This should be good for video watching and maybe even to share some images with friends and family. Another One Touch Hero accessory is wireless charging. The back of the device has several pin connectors and the charging will require the use of a compatible case. It somehow seems like this handset has more accessories than features and with that we move into the pico projector. This once again attaches using those pin connectors and is able to shine a mirror image of the display to more than 70-inches using 12 lumens.
Lastly and perhaps one of the more interesting accessories for the One Touch Hero — the E-Ink cover. This one also connects to those wireless charging pin connectors but perhaps more important is the display aspect. This one provides a secondary e-ink display that can be used to browse and generally ready text that doesn’t require the full color display. This option will also help to save some precious battery life.
