ADW Launcher is one of the oldest launchers available in Android. It was released way back in 2010. The last update we heard was five years ago when the ADW EX received Android 3.2 support and other tablet features. It’s getting a refresh this year finally although it’s still in beta mode. The new version isn’t live on the Play Store yet but it should be available in the coming weeks. If you wish to test the launcher, get it from ADW Launcher’s website and join beta to see the app.
The development team of the app carefully reviewed the progress the past few years including the recommendations of Google on options and settings. This new version, ADW Launcher 2.0, is believed to be one of the best today. Of course, that’s according to the team behind it. They redesigned the app from scratch and reprogrammed it to make sure they’ve tackled a lot of points and added many new features.
The list is quite long but here are some new things you could do with the ADW Launcher 2.0: new ways to manage screen, add widgets and shortcuts, change the wallpaper, lock/unlock the desktop or access settings, and some icons effects section. You can even change compositions and choose image filters now.
Several items were also improved like the app categories in app drawer, way to apply internal/external themes, managing user gestures, context menu for all desktop objects, folder properties dialog, and icon properties dialog. Also added were the following new features as listed on the ADW Launcher site:
• fast scroll app drawer style
• Dynamic UI coloring using wallpaper colors
• new section to configure icon badges
• indexed fast scroll app drawer style
• visual mode to configure desktop, icon appearance, folder appearance, and app drawer options
• option to change the top panel/widget
• option to change the content type of bottom panel (dock/widget
• new wrap folder mode to folders

I have my fingers crossed that those of us that purchased the EX version will eventually receive 2.0 when it comes out of beta without having to purchase it again.
Same here.
