The HD2 is another piece of endearing solid, discretely handsome HTC hardware, but its native Windows Mobile OS would normally make it unwelcome here at Android Community.  Thanks to the handiwork of xda-developers, however, HD2 owners can now get a shot of frozen yoghurt instead of their Microsoft dose; they’ve managed to port Android 2.2 Froyo onto the HD2.

If Froyo isn’t to your taste, there’s also an Android 2.1 build with the same HTC Sense UI as on the Desire available.  There are still issues with each, including audio issues during calls and – on the Froyo build – some 3G problems, so these may not be everyday ROMs for you, but the good news is that the 1GHz Snapdragon processor in the HD2 keeps them running as slickly as you’d find on a Nexus One or Desire.

  1. I ported froyo on my hd2 and love it! I use it as my daily ROM with minimal issues, most can be resolved by a simple reboot. The audio issues are fixed by running CLRCAD prior to running the HARET File. It makes the hd2 an awesome phone. Windows mobile… blows.

  2. so is there a way i can still use my HD2 as a wifi router? because thats one of the only real reason why that phone is still in my hands and not in the trash…sorry but windows needs to come up with a better os….

  4. i got this isntalled in my HD2, and i love it! but i’ve ran into a few problems with it. 1st of all i can’t send MMS, my DATA connection is lost every so often and i have to restart the connection by turning plane mode ON and then OFF again. the volume for things such as Youtube isnt very loud at all. there are a few minor things, like my screen freezes for a few seconds every so often, and battery life isn’t very long. i know things like these are supposed to happen considering what going is been done, but i’m just wondering if there is anyone else out there who has these problems, or maybe i did something wrong installing the software.
    thanks!

  5. yeh daniel ive had the exact same problems with my hd2 on froyo….really annoying….plus i cant add phone numbers to my facebook contacts…therefore i cant have my contacts profile picture as their photo….probably doesnt bother most but really pisses me off….other than that its alot better…..doesnt have that lag that the windows os always had which was so furstrating….and i love being notified about new emails and facebook messages….plus the thousands of apps to choose from….i should sell these things

  6. I dl froyo to my hd2. i have no sound, i cant log in to google talk ( and im getting “the application google services framework (processcom.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again”), and i cant figure out how to get the trademark htc clock on the main screen. so bascially im all kinds of messed up. im an idiot when it comes to this stuff, so if someone could pls break it down to me, id greatly appreciate it.
