HTC has some impressive phones in their new HTC One X and One S, we all know that already. With a beautiful sleek design and awesome materials to make them durable yet slim and strong, why cover them up with an ugly bulky case? HTC’s introduced some brand new One X cases today in Seattle and we were able to get a quick hands-on.
Now the idea and philosophy behind these is to not cover up the beauty and sleek design of the One series — and we’d have to agree with that idea. Why buy an ugly thick case when HTC themselves will be selling these minimalistic cases that lets the phones beauty shine through. The gallery below is just one of a few designs HTC has planned, and they’ll come in Orange, Blue, Black, and White from what we’ve heard.
The term minimalistic comes to mind with these cases, especially after seeing the picture above. It neatly and securely wraps around the phone without being intrusive to the user. While the orange is extremely visible and a pretty drastic change you can still see the beauty peeking out through the holes, which also keep the case extremely lightweight.
We have no names, pricing, or availability at this time but we should be hearing more details soon. Hopefully these will be available in the next few weeks as the X gets ready to land on AT&T May 6th. Check out the blue design from the gallery below too.
Thoughts on these new cases from HTC?
Argh, I physically have to cringe every time I see someone on public transportation using this ugly stuff on a high-end smartphone. Sacrilege!
I would’ve picked up one of these with absolutely no question… except they’re all compromised. The standard cases won’t work with the speaker dock, because there’s no cutout for the pogo pins. These quirky slim-fit cases should work with the speaker dock, but they provide no protection at all for the lens, which is the most vulnerable part of the entire phone. Then there’s the car dock, which lacks anything to hold the phone in place except the tight fit on the sides, and so I presume can’t be used with any cases installed on the phone at all. Compromise, compromise, compromise.
Seriously HTC, I want to give you my money for this stuff, but I can’t buy it as-is! (Well, I’ve had to buy the car dock because I need that for GPS navigation, but so far I can’t buy anything else.)
Do you expect me to spend all day long taking cases on and off to use each accessory? No thanks, that’s going to end up scratching my phone even more than using no case at all…
Actually, just so you know, there are many reports that the HTC One XL with LTE has a slightly recessed camera, so if you’re getting that one by any chance, you’re in luck!
And the lens protecting cases don’t fit in the dock because of the extra bulk around the camera, so no point in the pogo pins.
are these gel or hard plastic cases?
Images 3 and 4 the bottom right corner of the case, is it cracked or supposed to be like that?
