We recently shared some information regarding an upcoming update that was in the testing phase for the Motorola DROID Bionic but today we can happy tell all you Bionic owners that the update is ready and rolling out now. Officially being pushed to the Verizon support page we have all the details and a full change log below.
The update should be hitting devices any time now and you can start by checking for updates right on your device as usual by going into settings > about phone > and checking for updates. The update is about 57 MB in size and should only take a few minutes. The update isn’t anything major like the last one, or bring Ice Cream Sandwich but the change log does give us a few good ideas of what to expect.
Looking at the details below we see tons of changes and improvements to stability — something Bionic owners have been plagued with. They’ve also updated battery life, audio and video while streaming over HDMI, fixed some in-call audio interruptions and more. Then they specifically mention not only phone stability, but data stability too. I know from first hand experience the Bionic seems to drop data and for longer periods of time than most of my Verizon 4G LTE devices laying around.
As usual a few Verizon apps and bloatware have been added or updates, but that is to be expected. The update is rolling out in stages and should be landing soon. Check out the change log image below for all the details, and be sure to let us know once you get the update how everything goes. I’m interested in those data connection improvements. If you are rooted and are worried about loosing it give OTA RootKepper a try.

I have not received the update, and I can’t download it yet either. Waiting (patiently….) for ICS as promised on my BIONIC.
Don’t hold your breath for Bionic. I’m sure that will be mid-year 2012.
I just bought this phone last week. I never had data problems like this with my old HTC Droid Incredible! Seriously considering returning this POS. I did get the update today and at this very moment my phone is telling me “No Internet Connection – Try Again”. No point to lightening fast internet speeds if you can’t access the internet…..
Update didn’t do shi* for data connection problems… I’m so glad I bought a 4g phone so I could keep it in 3g.
Maybe you don’t live in a 4g area…. smh
Cycle the airplane mode on then off. That always fixes my data problems
I am lucky to keep connection for more than 10 minutes at a time
Not sure what updated was supposed to do but now I always open on my home page instead of what I was looking at!
I don’t like it! Please fix it!
Plenty of new bloatware. I count 4 new apps and the only one that I don’t mind is Emergency Notifications.
On the other side, so far data connectivity seems better. I still love my Bionic.
I DO live in a 4g area. That has been confirmed by my numerous complaints to Verizon customer service. They’ve sent me a new Bionic 3 times now. Data drops if I leave it in 4g. Works ok if I force it to stay in 3g. What ticks me off is I should have been told about the “known issue” at the time of sale or allowed to trade my phone for something else without paying a restocking fee. Especially since the day I bought it & called they DID say it was a known issue. Update didn’t help. Verizon apps suck
my classmate’s step-aunť makes $71 every hour on the laptop. She has been ƒired for 5 months but last month her pay was $7353 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on this site… LaźyCaśh5.čom
I live just outside of the 4G coverage area in my city, so I stick to 3G when I am home, which I am right now. Why is this important? Because I’m posting this from a place in my house that often has no coverage at all. is it possible they updated the 3g software also? Wtg Moto.
Also, I watched a movie on the HDMI out cable directly after the update installed, and without even knowing what was in the update I noticed that the clarity of the video AND audio were notably improved. And this was on a 50″ flatscreen with a 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound system.
Can’t wait to see what it’s like in the city on 4G!
Anyone else having dialer eat up battery after this u
Anyone else having dialer eat up battery after this upgrade? I can’t go 5 hours without entering paperweight mode.
Now can Samsung do this for the Stratosphere so it will be more than just a paperweight when I’m in my house and outside of 4G coverage???
i have the bionic and its awsome, cant wait for ics
I’ll stay where I am. 9.4 with never any data drops.
