Motorola and Verizon have officially launched the DROID 4 and DROID RAZR MAXX at CES this week, and we’ve got hands-on with both Android smartphones. As expected, the DROID 4 packs a slide-out five row QWERTY keyboard, while the RAZR MAXX takes the original styling of the DROID RAZR, makes it a little chunkier at 8.9mm thick, and uses that extra space to slot in a 3,300 mAh battery.
That extra-large power pack should address two of the most common criticisms of the original DROID RAZR: that its battery life is too short, and can’t be extended by swapping in a bigger alternative. It’s still non-removable, but now at least should hold up to some serious LTE hammering. Verizon says buyers of the $299.99 smartphone can expect over 21hrs of talktime on a single charge.
DROID RAZR MAXX hands-on:
As for the DROID 4, that has a 4-inch qHD display, dual-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel camera, along with that all-important physical keyboard for messaging addicts. It will run Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread initially, with an ICS upgrade in the near future according to Motorola, and has LTE and a mystery price tag.

Love the 3300mah battery 😀
Its amazing that with the smart phone its all about data and internet but the phone companies issue is battery life they still talk about talk time when they need to address for draw on the phone for it use on data
If only they stuck that 3300mah battery to the DROID 4 it would be perfect. A phone like the the 4 with that new backlit keyboard should pack a larger battery not to mention running on the most advanced 4g Lte network in the country.
yea that size of a battery inside that sleek phone is incredible.
The DROID 4 should of came with a 4.3 inch amoled hd screen. Then it would be ICS ready.
Is the Droid 4 global-capable with a working GSM radio on Verizon?
No. What a joke. Now we have to wait for “Droid 4 Global”? Drpod 3 was global but not Droid 4. What were they thinking?
But why does it show gsm here?

any change they will have a simcard versio for europe (or more like, the rest of the world)?
Apparently it has GSM radio in it, but not yet activated until Verizon corrects some network issues. So it will be gloval sometime. I was incorrect in my earlier post. Sorry.
id love the Maxx more if it had 720p like every other phone coming out…and that 13mp camera China has
when will people realize that more mp is not always better…the nexus only has 5mp and it takes great photos
13 is way to big. it should be around eight. any bigger and you get noise.
Why can’t all smart phones have a battery this big?
I’ll take a 16% thicker phone for a battery that will last all dam day, shoot I’ll take a 50% thicker phone.
Android always had poor battery life. But, it seems the battery life is improving. The galaxy nexus gave out a good battery life. not to mention the S2. And with the introduction of more energy-efficient CPUs. i think smaller batteries would be more than enough.
the maxx was rumored to have a 4.5″ 720p display with a 13 MP camera! that would have been so sick, but i’ll take the maxx anyways.
also saw the razr 4 at CES. the keyboard felt great. really great spacing and action.

Free Droid RAZR
Omg my Galaxy SII which has 1650mah battery fully charges in just under 3hours.
3300mah? THERE IS A REASON WHY COMPANIES LIKE SAMSUNG DONT EQUIP THEIR PHONES WITH RIDICULOUS BATTERIES. that will take at least 5-6hurs to charge the maxx. Stupid.
yah. the eight hours a normal person sleeps.. moron.
This is by far the most retarded comment i have ever read. After charging this for 3 hours like you GSII even though this thing will only be half full, itll get the same life as your GSII. Whats the difference?
i have the rezound and HATE it!! battery is shitty, and the sound is garbage!!!! i up graded to the razr maxx hope i like it
I have to say this is my favorite phone so far:)
