I have some exciting news for you DROID Bionic users, the huge bugfix update we’ve been reporting about over the past few months is finally here and ready to straighten out that Bionic of yours. Or you could just wait for the Bionic 2 as I’m expecting it early January if Motorola’s current trends tell us anything. Either way the update is here, now, and all the details are below.

All of the details and information regarding what to expect can be seen below in our new Timeline feature but I’ll break it down too. This update is a massive one and should have tons of improvements from stability, performance, battery life, 3G/4G connectivity and even camera performance. The camera was severely lacking and almost worth calling awful, so this update should really help the quality and shutter speed improve.

While we all still wait for CM7 or CM9 on the Bionic this update should get you through until we see Ice Cream Sandwich land for Motorola devices. We knew this update was coming soon because Verizon recently released the full update documents but today Motorola has officially announced it is available now. The update should hit your device automatically and without user interaction but as always you can manually update if you’d rather not wait. Head to settings > about phone and get that update started. Please drop us a few comments if you have any issues or new problems that arise after the update, we’d love to report the findings.

    • Yup hearing reports that the camera has been steadily improved — especially with auto focus and shutter speed.

Congrats. Now Bionic owners don’t need to take 5 photos to get one “decent” one

  1. The update to my Bionic downloaded and installed just fine.  However, I am now wondering if there might be a new Bug introduced with this update.  It seems that after I have been using a Bluetooth connection for a while and then shut off Bluetooth,  when I go to turn Bluetooth back on later in the day, it will not turn on.  I have gotten around this issue each time that this has occurred by putting the Bionic in Airplane mode and then turning off Airplane mode.  Bluetooth will start right up now. NOTE:  This has occurred several times now.  I have even tried power off the Bionic and turning it back on to see if the problem disappears.  The problem still exists.

  2. Updated first thing this morning. Had. 2 freezes one of which auto rebooted the phone and the other I had to do a battery pull. Really hope this isn’t frequent.

  3. After update, I can’t connect to one of my bt devices. A elm327 obdii adaptor that is used with the Torque app. Still works fine on my work DroidX though.

  4. Its official: we’ve all been ripped off. Battery life is half of what it used to be and I cannot take pics without a blur. This is a turd.

  5. i was still having problems after the update… but,,, I did a hard reset and all has been fine.. I think it just needed to be reset to get all of the garbage out after the update… You all might give this a shot..  The only bug I still see is going from 4G to 3G… It still gets lost and takes a while to regain a data connection
