I have some great news for all of the DROID Bionic owners around these parts. Remember that huge list of bugs that Verizon acknowledged and said they’d be fixing in a future update? Well it’s finally ready and should be rolling out extremely soon. We recently heard it would be released before the end of the year, and it looks like Verizon will hold true to their word because they’ve just informed us that it’s ready and will be rolling out soon.

The image above is the update documents provided directly from Verizon Wireless Support and the full version will be posted below so you can read all the new features in the update. The last we’ve heard of this update was when Motorola started asking for beta testers almost a month ago. Everything went ok because the update is slated to start any day now.

The list is huge so I wont go over everything and instead mention a few of the big ones:

— faster autofocus and general camera improvements
— fixed reliability and power cycle issues
— improved 3G/4G connectivity and switching
— fixed data lockup issues
— increased hotspot limit to 8 devices
— more

Those are just a few of the biggest issues that most will be happy to see. I for one know the camera is quite dreadful and users should be extremely happy to see an update on that front. The list of improvements and fixes is quite extensive and the update is being listed at around 54MB in size — so it’s fair to say they have a lot of fixes coming so get excited Bionic users. Usually when these official documents land on Verizon the update is pushed within a few days but could take up to 2 weeks. I’d be hitting that check for updates button starting tomorrow night if I had a Bionic.

  1. Hmmm….this software update may make the Droid Bionic  worthwhile. The Droid Razr looks to glitzy and doesn’t have a removable battery, which is a deal breaker for me. I have a Droid 3 and wouldn’t mind moving up to 4G….now I’m thinking.

    • Aside from a few problems, I love my Bionic! When I first got it, I was extremely disappointed with the reception (in my house and school it has low bars, but usually still gives me messages etc.), especially considering that this was Verizon’s big 4g phone, but the sales associate told me that my city’s 4g is still new (which it is) and that I should just give it time, which I believe. But still, even on 3g, I don’t get very many bars, which seems odd coming from “America’s most reliable network”. But, I have heard that this update should increase connectivity (and I’m hoping reception). All in all, it’s a great phone and very fast! I would highly recommend it once the reception and 4g i s all figured out.

P.S., the battery sometimes runs out fast, but that is to be expected with 4g. And my battery life has also seemed as though it has been improving a bit!

      • Daniel if you get ZERO 4G in your location and rely completely on 3G then disable the 4G (LTE) radio under settings > wireless and networks to get a little extra battery life.

And yes my brother has this phone and biggest issue seems to be battery life and the awful camera

  2. Updated my phone today.  Worked for most of the day but then froze tonight.  I pulled the battery and have rebooted several times.  The phone doesn’t even show up on the screen now.  Just a white screen.  So it doesn’t work as a phone at all.  When I try to open other things it goes to a dark screen and stays there.  Eventually an error message comes up saying “x” isn’t opening and asks if I want to force close or retry.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?
