Xiaomi is going to unveil something new next month. Expect an MWC 2019 unveiling as the event is for the 24th of February. An invitation was leaked recently although there isn’t much we can share with you. We’re anticipating for a new Mi Mix 3 variant since a few hints point to that direction. This Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G could very well rival the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 X 5G and other yet-to-be-announced 5G smartphones this year including those from Huawei, OnePlus, and Motorola.
Before the official launch of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, we told you it would receive 5G support. That didn’t happen but we think it will roll out soon.
To review, the Mi Mix 3 comes equipped with a large 6.39-inch AMOLED screen with 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and dual rear cameras. As with the previous Mi Mix models, the phone is almost bezel-less. It was first made available in China and is arriving in the UK this week.
The Mi Mix 3 only offers 4G LTE connectivity but the 5G variant is highly anticipated. We’re crossing our fingers Xiaomi will not disappoint this time.
Concept designer Ben Geskin posted something related on Twitter but the tweet has since been deleted. He said a 5G variant may be in the works. Now he’s saying the same thing online, “Exclusive: Xiaomi will hold an event on February 24, possibly for Mi Mix 3 5G.”
If this finally happens, then Xiaomi is one of the first OEMs to implement 5G for commercial use.
