The OxygenOS 9.0.0 OTA update has just rolled out for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The device brings the latest Android 9 Pie OS which also delivers a number of new features and enhancements. The older OnePlus phones from last year are finally getting a serving of Pie. It was only a couple of weeks ago when the OxygenOS Open Beta was announced for the OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus 6T after early development and testing.
So yes, the Android Pie for the OnePlus 5 and 5T has been fully baked. It updates the system to Android 9 Pie and brings some major enhancements like new navigation gestures (5T only) and the latest 2018.12 Android security patch level.
OxygenOS also adds new Gaming mode 3.0, text notification mode, notification for 3rd party calls, Do Not Disturb mode with adjustable settings, and a bunch of camera changes. For mobile photography, there’s the integrated Google Lens mode.
The release will be incremental as usual. More users will receive the update in the coming days.
The OnePlus OxygenOS team knows what the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T phone users need and want. Of course, this particular update won’t be ready this early if not for the cooperation of the beta testers and the Android community.
