The Xiaomi Mi 6X is basically the Xiaomi Mi A2. The new Mi 6X phone was launched a couple of months ago with AI cameras in tow. We’re still waiting for the official Mi A2 phone offering and we have a feeling it will be ready soon as per several leaks and an accidental leak by one retailer. The Xiaomi Mi A2 is said to be launched sometime in August. We’re assuming it may be revealed during the IFA event in Berlin.

A Xiaomi Mi A2 comes equipped with a 5.99-inch screen, Dual SIM support, 12MP camera, and a 32GB onboard storage. It is listed on digitec.ch with a 289 price tag (around $290). We’re assuming it’s Swiss franc because of the .ch domain. As described, this will be the second Android One phone from Xiaomi after the Mi A1. This one is expected to arrive with AI optimizations (artificial intelligence) on the 12MP and 20MP dual cameras and the 20MP selfie front-facing shooter.

The Mi 6X’s Android One version will be called the Xiaomi Mi A2. It will be out in three color options (Blue, Black, and Gold) and three storage capacities (32GB, G4GB, and 128GB). The Swiss website lists an August 8 availability so there is also a possibility it will be announced earlier.

Pricing of the Mi A2 will differ: $290/€250 for the 32GB variant, $330/€285 for the 64GB model, and $370/€320 for the 128GB version. Here are the specs we know so far: 5.99-inch 1080p+ screen, Snapdragon 660 processor, 12 + 20MP dual rear cameras, 20MP selfie shooter, 3010mAh battery, 4GB or 6GB RAM. There won’t be MIUI because of the Android One OS.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X released in China is getting a new version in the form of the Mi A2. This means Android 8.1 Oreo and the MIUI 9.5 will be absent from the new Mi smartphone that is intended for the global market.
