Finally and officially, after several rumors and speculations, the latest Mi phone from Xiaomi is unveiled. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition comes equipped with premium specs such as 8GB RAM, 128GB onboard storage, 3D face recognition technology, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. This phone also arrives with a souped-down Mi 8 SE complete with 64GB ROM and 4GB/6GB RAM. There are several variants available but simply put, this is the Xiaomi Mi 8. There is no Mi 7 as previously rumored but this is definitely the next-gen Mi smartphone offering that follows the Mi 6.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Anniversary Edition is the main phone offer with 6GB RAM and 64 GB storage at 2,699 RMB ($421). There’s a higher-specced edition, the Mi 8 Explorer, which is slightly more expensive at 3,699 RMB ($577). The Anniversary variant is also ready in other storage options, also with 6GB RAM: 128GB model (2,999 RMB/$468) and 256GB version (3,299 RMB/$515)
The Mi 8 Explorer Edition costs 3,699 RMB ($577). There’s also the Mi 8 SE with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which you can get for only 1,799 RMB ($280). The 6GB RAM + 128GB model 1,999 RMB can be had for 1,999 RMB ($312).

The Mi 8 features dual-frequency GPS that promises accurate navigation compared to other smartphones. The large 6.21-inch AMOLED fullscreen display is perfect for web browsing and watching movies. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor plus AI functionalities of the camera system. The latter is comprised of 12MP dual AI cam with Studio Lighting.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition boasts a transparent glass back so you can see the components inside. Making this a unique and worthy find is the pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint technology, as well as, the 3D face unlock. This means Xiaomi is ahead of Samsung as we predicted recently.
