The Google Assistant is perhaps one of Android’s most important features. The idea has been around since 2012 but it was only last year when it became popular. It has replaced Google Now as the smart assistant and soon found its way to smartphones. At first, only limited models are supported but they are now available on more Android phones and soon, on more Android tablets. We just told you that it’s arriving on tablets, as well as, Android 5.0 Lollipop phones.
Some have already received the feature but the tablet experience isn’t as impressive. You can do the same things but navigation can still be improved. The tablet has a bigger screen so there is more space covered.
For the Google Assistant on Android tablet, the app takes the full-width on Marshmallow. However, the main issue is that the smart voice feature works only in portrait mode. Even if the device is in landscape mode, the screen will rotate and start working in portrait. It’s a problem because on smartphones, the Google Assistant also works in landscape.
We’re assuming this is just a minor bug that can be fixed. It should be easy to correct and it must happen soon because more tablets will be receiving the Google Assistant. Interestingly, there are some features that are already optimized for tablets.
