Pretty hard to imagine that what once was just an idea from a Mojang coder is now one of the biggest versions of Minecraft around – Minecraft: Pocket Edition has over 40 million players all over the world. And with 5 years of mobile gaming behind them, Mojang is ready to roll out the Ender Upate – giving you a chance to battle the baddest boss monster of them all, the Ender Dragon.
When Mojang coder Aron Nieminen started working on Pocket Edition as an idea for a mobile game, it was so bare bones you probably wouldn’t recognize it from the version now. It had the most minimal Minecraft features in mobile form, and Aron says: “It wasn’t even supposed to have multiplayer at first, and the first internal version only had an ASCII renderer!”
Now, with the Ender Update looming, the game is ready to jump on officially to version 1.0. But it’s not just the Ender Dragon you get to be excited about. There are also polar bears (yes, polar bears!), wings that you can wear and let you glide, Oculus touch support, and all manner of cool things.
Version 1.0 of Pocket Edition is not the end of all things, it is just a transition into new and better things for Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Wait for the update to roll out, but enjoy the trailer above for now.
