As we mentioned the other day, Android 7.0 Nougat is coming to the Xperia X Performance. It’s the first Sony smartphone to receive the latest version but it’s not the only one. The company has just announced that it’s also releasing the software update for the Xperia XZ. We somehow missed that bit of information but we’re not surprised since previous updates usually rollout for the two models at the same time. We also saw a roadmap earlier that revealed Xperia XZ and the X Performance would be receiving the Nougat in October.

The Xperia XZ and X Performance will soon be followed by the Xperia X and X Compact. We first noted a November release but there’s nothing yet. If there’s a release we haven’t heard, then maybe it’s the beta program for select users.

Android 7.0 Nougat for the X Performance and Xperia XZ brings a number of important features such as multi-window support, improved messaging, longer battery life, manual camera settings controls, and Google Now integration on the home screen. You can now run two apps at the same time. Google and Sony made some enhancements to the software for a better battery life. The latest Messaging app has also been improved to make sharing audio and videos easier.

For the mobile photography enthusiasts, you can use the new shutter speed and manual focus controls. The home screen is also made more personal and smarter now, thanks to integration with Google Now.

Sony is releasing the Nougat software updates in increments. Just watch out for a notification from your carrier. Next Sony devices to receive the chunky Nougat are as follows:

• Sony Xperia Z3+
• Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet
• Sony Xperia Z5
• Sony Xperia Z5 Compact
• Sony Xperia Z5 Premium
• Sony Xperia X
• Sony Xperia XA
• Sony Xperia XA Ultra
• Sony Xperia X Compact

No information on when or what regions will receive the Nougat first but at least we know these models are already in the pipeline and on their way to getting a taste of the new dessert.
