When it comes to action cameras, GoPRO is still the brand name to beat. But Nikon is no ordinary brand name as well. Although more popular for their “serious photography” cameras and digital SLRs, the Japanese brand is now striking out into the consumer market with a new line of action cameras under their new KeyMission line.

First up is the KeyMission 360 action camera, unique because it is packaged in the popular action camera form factor but is able to take 360-degree videos in 4K UHD (24 frames per second). You get two 20-megapixel sensors with in-camera stitching so you get great 360-degree videos in either 4K or the more standard Full HD (1080p). This new camera will retail at around USD$500 and is waterproof up to 98 feet under water. This camera lacks an LCD monitor display, so you will need to install the Nikon SnapBridge app on an Android device to sync up and use the camera.

The KeyMission 170 is your standard action camera, able to give you stunning wide-angle video in 4K UHD. This camera is in the standard action camera form factor, waterproof up to 33 feet under water, and has a small LCD monitor display for setup and playback. This will retail at around USD$400, and is compatible with its own set of action camera accessories like tripods, extension arm, and a special remote control accessory.

The KeyMission 80 camera is the most basic of the three, and will give you 1080p video at 30 frames per second using the main 12MP CMOS sensor. There’s a secondary front facing 5MP sensor for selfies as well. The KeyMission 80 is water resistant up to 3 feet under water, and will retail for around USD$280.
