Microsoft inks license deal with Nikon for Android-powered cameras

It's no secret that patent wars have been a major problem in the mobile space. Especially for a few of the big hitters like Samsung, Microsoft, and Apple. For those not following along at home Microsoft holds multiple key patents and has inked deals with just about everyone in the Android tablet and smartphone market for royalties. Now that Nikon has an Android camera, they're also getting thrown in the Microsoft coin jar.

It's official: Today the folks over at Nikon have beat Samsung and many others to the punch by announcing their all new Android powered smart camera known as the Coolpix S800c. This 16 megapixel shooter surely will beat anything else in your pocket running Android, oh and did we mention it's a Nikon?

Nikon is prepared to launch their first Android-powered smart camera according to recent leaks and rumors from Nikonrumors. This isn't the first time we've heard rumors or ideas regarding an Android camera, but this could be the real deal. Reports are suggesting this will be the first of possibly many from Nikon.
