It took a while before the BlackBerry PRIV received the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. We were told it would be ready from mobile carriers by May. T-Mobile got the SOFTware update but it was quickly pulled out for some reason. Meanwhile, AT&T opened its own Marshmallow beta program for those interested. It appears to be a success as the carrier just announced the public release of the update.
Marshmallow for the BlackBerry PRIV (model STV100-1) is now ready for download via Firmware Over The Air (FOTA). You need to be connected to WiFi before you can download the Android 6.0 software update for the Priv. Some important changes include the latest security patch level, clearer notifications, customized personal data permissions, enhanced privacy and security, improved Settings and S/MIME support, better BlackBerry keyboard, more storage, and longer battery life. There are some upgrades to the camera app as well.
Check if your phone has the latest software version by going to Settings> About phone>. Scroll up to see Build Number. You should see the following information:
• Android Version: 6.0.1
• Baseband Version: MPSS.BO.2.6.2.c2-00007-M8994FAAAANAZM-1.55185.2
• Kernel Version: 3.10.84-perf-gdf13c1fec_agent@br628cnc #1
