It was not that long ago that Paranoid Android (AOSPA) announced that they were officially back in the custom ROM/aftermarket software for Android game. They’ve got a new team together, and they started by putting out their first new ROM in a long time based on Android Marshmallow. They’re following that up now with Paranoid Android 6.0.1 for all officially supported devices, plus there’s good news for Sony Xperia device owners.

First up, Paranoid Android 6.0.1 will be bringing the June Android security patch for the Nexus devices. Across the devices, there are also updates to the Theme Engine. There are a lot of bug fixes for this update, including fixes for Gesture launching while the device is in your pocket, proper vendor files for the Nexus 6p (so you only need to flash the AOSPA image now), and some general application fixes.

A great announcement from AOSPA is that through Sony’s Open Devices Project, all 22 devices under the Sony Xperia brand will now be supported by Paranoid Android. Officially and in the now, only the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet Compact (both LTE and WiFi), Xperia Z2, and Xperia Z2 Tablet (WiFi) are on the list. But watch out for other devices to be added in future updates.

Also getting some love is the newly launched OnePlus 3 and the Pixel C, both now part of AOSPA’s officially supported devices. You can download the Paranoid Android 6.0.1 update via the official AOSPA download page.
