OnePlus CEO Pete Lau wanted to prove just how awesome the OnePlus 3’s DASH fast charging technology was, and so he took to Weibo to show off a little bit. This is not a strict lab test, as he goes against the Xiaomi Mi 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge – both using Qualcomm’s Quick Charge standards – with the OnePlus 3, playing games with the phone as he was charging.
That’s a bit of showmanship (and subtle mockery, if we’ve ever seen it done) right there. Most people will frown upon even using a device while it’s charging just so you can maximize the full benefits of the charging process. But playing games on the phone while charging? That’s just plain showmanship. Smartphones tend to heat up while running games, and any surplus of heat is dangerous to the battery. But the OnePlus 3 still beat the two flagships by getting a full charge within 90 minutes, or 1 and a half hours.
The other two flagships got their 100% charge back after three hours of charging, which is not bad, actually. But Lau wanted to make a point, and his point was, the OnePlus 3’s DASH charge technology will beat these flagships handily, even when on stress.
Of course, OnePlus’s DASH charge tech has not been tested in the real world too much, with the phone just recently launched. You might be wary of the dangers of pushing the charging process too much, but OnePlus says that the cable for the OnePlus 3 – which is absolutely required for DASH technology to work – is robust enough to carry the added load.

Interesting, because I have note5 that takes nowhere near 3 hours to become fully charged…More like 1.5.
