After weeks of rumors, leaks, and speculations, Huawei finally unveiled the new Honor V8. We’ve been saying that it might have a dual camera configuration just like the P9, 4GB RAM according to a TENAA listing, and that it might have two variants at launch. Finally, Huawei made the official announcement and we’ve got a lot of details and information here.
To confirm the speculations we listed earlier, all three ideas are true–there’s the dual lens camera setup and 4GB RAM and that there will be two variants. The phone takes on the familiar Honor design (which also looks like an iPhone). At the back is the dual 12 megapixel camera system that allows you to take great photos. The dual camera setup consists of dual sensor, dual lens, and dual ISP. All these enable the camera to take in as much light as possible for more accurate colors and super clear images. These terms may intimidate you but they make the images and color reproduction exceed your expectations: 3IE algorithm engine system, multi-frame synthesis technology, 1.76-micron composite pixels, and laser focus.
The Honor V8 can take 3D dynamic panorama photos so you can preserve memories not only in boring still photos but photos that come alive with depth and richer details. The phone cam takes high quality photos and better HDR photos even in low light shooting mode. The V8 also features a number of cool camera features like shutter stream, food mode, professional camera / video time-lapse photography, document correction, and slow motion.
The Huawei Honor V8 boasts of a 3500mAh battery that promises long battery life with the help of some power optimization technology. It comes with a 9V2A fast charging technology so you don’t have to wait that long before phone batt gets fully charged so you can enjoy 12 hours of mobile browsing, 7 hours of mobile game, and 14 hours of video playback. The 5.7-inch FHD with 2.5D arc glass screen and 1920 x 1080 resolution make for an excellent display.
What’s also good about the phone is the reduced blue screen to precent eye fatigue. The screen was produced with the guidance of the National Eye diagnosis and treatment engineering technology research center. And then there’s the ability to turn the phone and its packaging to become a Cardboard VR headset. Virtual reality is the trend now and Huawei is finally getting into the game.
As for the pricing, the KNT-AL10 variant is 2499 RMB which is about $384 while the KNT-AL20 version is 2799 RMB ($430). The different between the two is the display and storage capacity: 5.7-inch FHD LCD 386ppi and 32GB storage for the KNT-AL10 phone and WQHD LCD 515ppi and 64GB storage for the KNT-AL20 variant.

Apparently I’m as stupid as this author to see I also mistakenly thought this was an iPhone.
