Now that we’ve established and explained that the Leica dual lens camera on the Huawei P9 was absolutely co-engineered by Leica and not just certified, we can now discuss the upcoming P9 Lite. The variant was sighted recently on a Euro retailer website but with no mention of Leica lens. Obviously, this could be the souped down version of the flagship smartphone.
There’s also a Huawei P9 Max or P9 Plus sighted on a GFXBench page last week but before that upgrade, we’re expecting the P9 Lite to be announced. We know it’s coming very soon as a TENAA visit usually means a device is about to be released. The phone comes equipped with a 5.2-inch screen, 1080p touchscreen display, 13MP main camera with LED flash, 5MP selfie cam, 16GB of onboard storage, 2GB RAM, HiSilicon Kirin 650 processor, and a 3000 mAh battery. The Huawei EMUI 4.1 runs over Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
A German site also posted the Huawei P9 Lite recently with a €299 price tag.($338). The online retailer lists three color options available from different mobile carriers. No official announcement yet from Huawei but the German variant is set to be available in May. We can feel Huawei will make the announcement anytime soon. The Chinese company is really not good in keeping secrets so let’s just wait and see.
