So Google Chrome is probably the world’s most popular Android browser, by virtue of, you know, being a Google product. But popular doesn’t necessarily mean “best”, as in the case of Chrome, where hardcore Android users usually swear by better browsers. So Samsung is doing its part, trying to give its users another browser app alternative – Samsung Internet version 4.0 has been released to the public via the Play Store.

The new Samsung Internet app is not just your regular bloatware browser – in fact, it has features that might actually compete with other leading browser apps out there. The most popular of these features would most likely be support for ad blocking extensions. We’ve discussed here how Chrome – and Google in particular – is not friendly to apps that go against one of its major profit schemes, which is online advertisements. Samsung has no ax to grind with ad blocking software, and so it allows those naturally, to the joy of Samsung users.

The browser also features a pop-up video player, and a “Secret Mode” which parallels Chrome’s “Incognito” browsing mode. The browser also has very good integration with Samsung Gear VR, one of the latest things to come out of Samsung. The full list of features are available at the download link below.

Of course, this browser is compatible only with certain Samsung devices. At this point, Samsung Internet 4.0 is compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, S7, Note5, S6 Edge+, S6 Edge, S6, S6 Active, Note4, S5, S5 Neo, S5 Active, S5 Sports, S5 LTE A, Note3, S4, S4 Duos, S4 Active, S4 LTE A, A7, A8, A5x, A7x, and A9x with Android 5.0 and above.
