After skipping the the Mobile World Congress to become the launching pad for the next premium flagship phone, Huawei is now set to unveil the P9 at a special launch event happening on April 6, 2016. The Chinese company has recently distributed invitations to an event in London. There is no mention at all that it will be the Huawei P9 but it’s been the topics of our recent discussions.
Over a week ago, a prototype of what’s believed to be the Huawei P9 was leaked, displaying the camera sensors, fingerprint scanner, and metal body. Actually, we’ve been waiting for this one since last December when we learned that China Mobile would be launching a new Huawei phone this March but apparently, it’s now happening in April.
Don’t think this is just another flagship phone from Huawei. We’re guessing the company will finally introduce the Leica lenses on the phone. If you may remember, we said that Huawei is set to reinvent mobile photography by partnering with Leica.
The smartphone is also believed to arrive in three different variants: Entry-level, standard, and a high-end P9 Max. The entry-level phone will feature a Snapdragon 650 processor, 16GB onboard storage, and 2GB RAM. The other standard variant will run a Kirin 950 SoC, 32GB built-in storage, and 3GB RAM.
So far, here’s what we know about the standard specs: 5.2inch screen, 12MP dial rear camera with Leica lenses, 8MP front-facing camera, fingerprint sensor, 16/32/64GB built-in memory, 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM, WiFi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, and a 3900 mAh battery. The P9 Max will be equipped with a 6-inch Quad HD screen.
