While we’re still waiting for the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow build to reach users (a lot of articles seem to start this way lately), those who were able to get into the beta testing program of Samsung are now probably enjoying getting to try out the new features. Well Galaxy Note 5 owners, at least those who were selected to join the beta, will also now be able to test out what the Marshmallow update will do to their phablets.
A Galaxy Note 5 owner sent an online site screenshots of the Marshmallow that has started seeding for those who wanted to join the beta program. For AT&T subscribers, there were only 200 selected, but as for the other carriers, it is unknown. The participants were emailed instructions to download the Samsung app which will be the one to install the beta build on to the device by pushing it. The build is a little over 1GB so make sure you have enough space and your connection is fast, if you are one of the chosen beta testers.
Based on the screenshots sent by the owner, it seems to be the same as those of the beta for the Galaxy S6 / S6 edge that were also previously posted. The white theme with blue accents still looks very Samsung but also complements the Material Design visuals. Both the look and the features may very well be a combination of TouchWiz, Samsung’s own UI, and the Android Marshmallow design.
The previous beta test was for AT&T Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925A), AT&T Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920A), Verizon Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925V), or Verizon Galaxy S6 edge+ owners. It’s the first beta build that has been sent out for Galaxy Note 5 owners. Unfortunately, there is still no feedback as to when the actual update will be rolling out to users, although it has reportedly began in South Korea already.
