While virtual reality can be fun, augmented reality actually is more realistic. Others even say it is practical and can be used for some daily tasks. We don’t know exactly how except for games but there’s an app that will probably give you and me an idea how it would work especially when partnered with an Android Wear-powered smartwatch.
When it comes to augmented reality (AR), we’ve seen that NEC virtual AR keyboard that can be paired with a smartwatch. There’s Google’s Project Tango that is helping developers discover and build new technologies that make use of physical space and motion. Other devs have released augmented reality games and apps like the Pokemon GO, Father.io, and Clandestine: Anomaly. Joining the bandwagon is Tilt by 13 App Design Casual.
Tilt is a new casual app for Android Wear smartwatches. It’s the first of its kind as it transforms your wearable device into a game that you can play. The object of the game is to tilt the watch in any directions to roll a sphere to pick up boxes without falling off the side on into the holes. It’s a pretty challenging game because you still have to look through the smartphone camera or display.
The smartwatch turns into a virtual reality board where you can actually play the game. Just tilt your wrist in whatever direction and the ball won’t fall. The game isn’t much but as the first of its kind, it gives us a glimpse into the future of augmented reality. From VR games to AR games, the gaming and tech industries definitely have a long way to go. Exciting times ahead because the possibilities are endless.
Tilt is currently free to download. No in-app items are offered but an expanded version will be released soon. That one will have more features and levels and is expected to be more fun, exciting, and challenging.
