We’re barely beginning our trends for 2016 when we saw this picture doing the rounds. It is a purported leak of the back of a device which seems to be made by Motorola – possibly a Moto X 2016 version, or the Moto X4. We’re putting this up so you get an idea of what this looks like.
Motorola has had a relatively successful 2015, with the new Moto X versions and the new Moto G in everyone’s argument for the best budget phone of the year. But what do we have here? Is this an early look – maybe our first legitimate look – at the new 2016 version of the Moto X?
Again, we remind you that the source of this image cannot confirm its authenticity – so there is a huge possibility that this is either an early prototype, a discarded prototype, or it might even be a fake. Still, we analyze it for what it is – and the biggest thing you will notice is the large round camera module that dominates the back.
The image also betrays a unibody design for the Moto X, something they have not done for the brand yet. It might be a sign of things to come for Motorola. We’ll leave it at that for the moment, but watch this space.
