The Chinese phone maker ZTE has found a niche in the US selling no-contract phones. It’s already 2nd place in the unlocked device category and the fourth largest smartphone supplier. In its native China, ZTE continues to be one of the fastest moving OEM’s by releasing smartphones regularly. After the bezel-less Nubia Z9 was leaked and finally announced for a Q3 arrival, here’s a new variant to join the Z9 Mini and Z9 Max: the Z9 Max Elite.

Spotted on TENAA is the ZTE Nubia Z9 Max Elite that looks very similar to the previous Nubia Z9 models. The Chinese FCC recently certified the device which means it will be announced very soon. Based on the TENAA documents, ZTE Nubia Z9 Max Elite comes equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, 3GB RAM, 1.8 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 16MP main camera with LED flash and autofus, 8MP selfie shooter, and a microSD card slot.

There’s no mention of internal storage size but phone’s memory is open for expansion. Smartphone runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. It’s already 4G/LTE capable aside from the standard WiFi, 3G, and Bluetooth connectivity. Phone also features a USB Type-C port for data transfer and charging. What’s different on the Max Elite is the fingerprint scanner which the Z9 Max didn’t have. ZTE Nubia Z9 Max Elite’s fingerprint scanner is located on the frame of the phone similar to the position of the scanner on the Xperia Z5 series.

No word on pricing and availability yet but ZTE is expected to make an official announcement soon.
