While some retail companies are going digital and shutting down their physical stores, Motorola is opening its doors to consumers to give them a new shopping experience. An experiential boutique will be opened in downtown Chicago this coming November 7, Saturday. Officially called as the Moto Shop, the store will allow people, Chicagoans initially, to checking out the latest Motorola products they usually just seen online and on Moto Maker.
Why Chicago? It’s Motorola’s hometown. It’s where upcoming Motorola products are sighted in the wild and is fast rising as a tech hub in the country. This Moto Shop is a first from from Motorola, providing a more interactive and hands-on environment where potential buyers can test device before making that purchase.
Shopping for a new product shouldn’t be complicated. Read reviews online, order, and wait for it to be delivered to your doorstep. However, there are still people who prefer to get their hands on a product and see for themselves how cool it is as described on a review or press release.
Motorola says they are transforming the Moto Maker idea from online to a mini workshop. This means anyone can now go to the design studio to see the wide color palette and feel the natural wood or genuine leather that can be used to build a custom Motorola smartphone. Right now, Motorola can customize a Moto X Pure Edition, DROID Turbo 2, Moto G, and Moto 360.
Expect to see almost all materials and color options in store. They will be displayed so you’ll have an idea how your own design will look as a finished product. For smartwatch shoppers, the Moto 360 boutique will showcase all customization options. A Drop Zone inside the Moto Shop will be available so you can drop test the DROID Turbo 2 shatterproof phone. Motorola recommends you to try and see the smartphone in falling action. And for the mobile photography enthusiasts, there’s the Moto Shoot set where you can test the 21MP camera of the Moto X Pure Edition.
Motorola’s Moto Shop will officially open on November 7. A week after on November 14, a grand celebration will be happening. Motorola invites you to visit the shop at 108 N. State St. (Suite 140 at Block 37). Operating schedules are Monday to Thursday from 10 AM to 8PM and Sunday from 11 AM to 6PM only.
