Nintendo said that it will “take it slow” on the decision to finally jump into the mobile gaming market, but that has not stopped Nintendo fans the world over from speculating what the Japanese gaming giant’s first game would be. Some are praying Zelda, others are saying-slash-wishing for maybe a Mario racing game. Well, it would seem they’re all wrong.

Miitomo is the title of the game that will be Nintendo’s first official entry into smartphone and tablet gaming. As per sources from Nintendo, the game will be a simple yet addictive formula of player-to-player communications, and dressing up your Mii avatar, quite like in “The Sims” franchise. This, in reality, is the quirky cute game that most people should have been expecting from Nintendo.

The Mii avatar has been part of the Nintendo gaming world since the debut of the Wii console, and players will be playing the game, getting their avatars to look good and talk to other people’s avatars. Nintendo’s business plan is to sell cosmetic items and avatar clothing to dress up your character. And people will want to buy these too, because their Mii avatars they will go out into the game world and communicate with other Miis on their own even when the player isn’t logged into the game.

The game feels like it is a refresh of the Nintendo 3DS game called Tomodachi Life, but that game did not have the online and social element so prevalent in today’s games. There will be more news of this game, we assume, as the development progresses so watch this space. Game release is set to be on March 2016.
