No one fitness wearable or app can live alone. More often than not, these various apps, programs, and even devices will have to work together in order to give the consumer the best information they need and to meet their needs wherever they are. Sony said during the CES earlier this year that they wanted to build a more evolved wearable portfolio, and that means going into business with third-party partners. Now they’ve launched their first partner card with Withings.
All the information that you want from Withings’ Smart Body Analyzer can now be found on Sony’s Lifelog, that built-in app on your device that, well, logs your life. This includes body composition, high-accuracy weight and body fat measurements, and the all-important Body Mass Index, which is important for you to know when you’re trying to lose weight.
This adds more capabilities for Lifelog, which already has a lot of already existing ones. But having this information from Withings will bring more power to your app, as it can now have more in-depth insights, as well as innovative uses for these data gathered. The newly-introduced Sony Smartband 2 will also be able to benefit from this partnership, particularly as Lifelog is now optimized for their newest wearable.
Sony promised more new products, concepts, partners, and Lifelog plug-ins to build this ecosystem. They promised that more partner cards will be coming soon to your app and your wearable.
