What is it with the Vietnamese that they want premium Samsung phones getting a gold treatment? Earlier this year, both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge were offered in 24k gold, platinum, and rose gold by Goldgenie. Karalux soon followed with a 24K gold plated of the same models. This time, it’s the Galaxy Note 5’s turn to get the golden treatment for anyone who is willing to pay over a thousand dollars.
If you may remember, there’s also a gold version of the Galaxy Note Edge and Note 4. There seems to be a market for such luxury phones that Karalux continues to make gold-plated versions of the new premium Note device. We can’t tell if the S-Pen is also gold-plated but I’m sure Karalux also thought about doing that.
To start the golden treatment, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was dissembled so the engineers can start the gold plating by creating coated layers and dipping them into a gold tank. It’s easier now to remove the frame material even if it’s a stronger 7000 series aluminum, alloy, and is 1/3 denser than stainless steel. Similar to how a Rolls Royce in Vietnam is gold-plated, Karalux engineers use what they call a sustainable surface protection technology.
And how much should you pay if you want a new gold-plated Samsung Galaxy Note 5? Oh, just some VND 25 million which is about $1110. But if you have a Note 5 already, Karalux will do the gold-plating job for only $355. Very pricey but man…this is gold!
