Two months ago, Facebook launched Moments, a stand-alone app that allows you to gather the photos posted on the social networks that you didn’t take but you’re in it. Unfortunately, it was only for US users and of course for a first release, there were some things that needed to be improved. Their newest update now brings it to more countries and also lets you make videos from the photos in your moment.
This is actually the app’s first big update since launching, and one of the biggest additions is now the ability to have a video of your best photo moments. At first, it will just randomly select 6 or more pictures from your Moments gallery, then make a video out of it. You can even edit it, adding and removing photos, choosing transitions, music (well, there are around 11 selections), etc. And once you’ve finalized it, of course you won’t want to keep it to yourself right? You can share it with family members and friends that are also using the Moments app.
If it’s the first time you’re hearing about Moments though, it is an app that uses facial recognition and timestamps to look at Facebook photos, even if you weren’t tagged in it or even those you didn’t know you were in. It has a combined gallery (permission pending) so that it will be easier for you to have a copy of pictures from that party but didn’t want to bother asking from the host.
But the best news probably from this update is that the Moments app is now available in “most countries” and has also been translated into 34 languages. If you’re living outside the US, you can now download the app for free from the Google Play Store.
