Android Auto may still not be the standard dashboard infotainment system in vehicles but more and more car makers are getting such connectivity. Of the very few 2015 models that are receiving the in-car OS, the Hyundai’s 2015 Sonata is the first car to have Android Auto as we already mentioned a few months back. Android Auto software is available at MyHyundai.com and is now ready for download.
The 2015 Sonata with Navigation can start the software update. It’s free and can be easily installed on production vehicles. Hyundai is planning to expand this to more models but we have no estimate yet as to when. The platform can be obtained from the MyHyundai website and it’s expected to bring more features and functions to any supported car. It’s actually easy to upgrade because DIY steps are already provided. You can also get the software from Hyundai dealerships in the US.
The 2015 Sonata may be the first vehicle to run Android Auto but more variants will have it soon including the Sonata Sport, Eco, Limited, Limited 2.0T, and Sport 2.0T vehicles.
Make sure you register at MyHyundai to access website and get the software. Ready to install Android Auto? Follow these instructions:
Choose 2015 Sonata on the drop-down menu, select downloads in navigation then check the Android Auto downloads drop-down. Activate the download button to start downloading. Wait for the file to be completely downloaded before running. Once download is completed, it should automatically open and then select run. Download tool will only start once the previous download has been completed. Save all files onto a USB drive so you can finally connect and transfer them to your vehicle’s dashboard via a USB port in the Sonata.
If you’re ready to update the vehicle software, make sure the car’s engine is running and then connect the USB drive. Click on the setup button you’ll see near the radio controls. Choose System Info, click update, and then software update should start automatically. Once done, enable Android Auto by going to Setup, Connectivity Settings, and look for the Android Auto on/off switch. All done? Go on and enjoy Android Auto on your 2015 Hyundai Sonata.

I want to know if anyone has tried to install this on any other 2015 Hyundai, like the Genesis. In the video the system looks just like what is included in the Genesis and I am thinking of trying it. Of course I have to see if I can even download the software from My Hyundai.
If you feel that it is OK that somebody monetizes your driving habits, download this update ASAP. Of course, you have nothing to hide other than the time that you parked in front of that suspected terrorist HQ and left 2.3 hours later.
