ZEISS, one of the known premium brand names in lenses and optics, have announced that they are expanding the compatibility of their virtual reality headset – the ZEISS VR ONE – to include Samsung’s current flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S6. The compatible devices were initially the Apple iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S5.
The company prides itself in its virtual reality headset, saying that there will be no need for complicated setup procedures on the ZEISS VR ONE. “Complicated manual configuration, e.g. interpupillary distance, is not required. Plus the ZEISS VR ONE is also suitable for eyeglass wearers,” they say. I guess we will have to see about that, and a hands-on report should be forthcoming.
But nonetheless, ZEISS has now expanded its reach, including those who own Samsung’s spanking new flagship smartphone. The device actually goes in a tray that is specific for the Galaxy S6 alone. One has to wonder what kind of market ZEISS has imagined for its premium plaything.
The ZEISS VR ONE will cost you USD$129.00 with a choice of one tray to go with your initial purchase. Any additional tray will cost users USD$9.90 after. Is this something you would want for yourself?
