Finally, after several rumors, leaks, and more speculations, the Samsung Galaxy A8 is here. We’ve been anticipating this unit since the South Korean tech giant was rumored to be already working on this new mid-range phone with a 16MP camera. Since then, we’ve been hearing more details and seeing leaks and more photos of the Galaxy A8.
The new Galaxy A8 is now considered as the thinnest phone from Samsung. It’s actually a phablet because of the large 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display screen but it remains to be lightweight at only 151 grams. It’s also very thin at 5.9mm but still looks very sturdy, thanks to the metal frame and the aluminum back material. It’s very noticeable that the design is similar to the Galaxy S6.
This Galaxy A series model is powered by 1.0 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC and 2GB RAM. It comes with a 16GB or 32GB built-in storage, microSD card slot for expansion, dual SIM support, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, and 4G/LTE connectivity. As we speculated earlier, the Samsung Galaxy A8 features a 16 megapixel main camera with OIS and f/1.9 aperture, fingerprint reader just like the S6 and S6 edge, and a 3050 mAh battery. Samsung boasts that battery on standby can last up to a maximum of 304 hours (12 days).
Samsung Galaxy A8 will be available in Midnight Black, Champagne Gold, and Pearl White. So far, we know phone will be out in China but no pricing or shipping date has been listed yet. No information if this will roll out in the US and other regions as well.
