Samsung’s latest flagship phones, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, caught the world’s attention because of their great design, premium specs and impressive performance. Another variant, the Galaxy S6 Active, was soon released and looks like another S6 variant is coming. Last month, we learned a tip of a possible Galaxy S6 Edge Plus with a larger screen. We heard the new smartphone will be out this coming August.
A few weeks after that rumor, we’re learning that Samsung has applied for a trademark in the US for the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus model. The ‘Plus’ reference obviously means a larger variant of the dual curved-edge display phone. A United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) filing was sighted recently and there’s another rumor that this phone will be launched together with the Galaxy Note 5 but it could also happen earlier.
Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge Plus could have a 5.4-, 5.5-, or 5.7-inch screen, Snapdragon 808 hexa-core CPU, a 16MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, 32GB built-in storage, and a 3,000 mAh battery. Since this is an XL version of the S6 edge, it will have larger dimensions probably some 3mm wider and 9mm taller.
We’re not sure how this Plus version will become a better or more serious phone other than just being a larger version of the S6 edge but it’s believe to rival the iPhone 6S Plus or the LG G4 Pro currently in the works. Let’s wait and see.
