The year started with Jide unveiling the Remix Ultra Tablet. The tech startup brought the project to Kickstarter and fortunately, the fund goal was raised and the tablet actually shipped to backers last May. Tablet was listed in two variants on the crowdfunding website: a $349 16GB model and the $449 64GB version. This time, Jide is giving us a glimpse of the new Remix Mini, a small Chromebox-like device that runs Remix OS, the same platform running on the Ultra Tablet.
The Remix Mini has yet to be listed on Kickstarter but Jide started showing off the Android-powered mini personal computer. It’s a small PC system that can be used as a complete desktop system after you attach a monitor, mouse, and keyboard. The Remix Mini is said to be powered by Android Lollipop kernel/Remix OS, a 1.5GHz Quad-Core CPU, and a H.265 FHD Hardware decoder GPU. Other specs include an 8GB built-in storage, 1GB RAM, WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and HDMI 1.4. As for the dimensions, the Remix Mini is packed inside a 4.9-in x 3.5-in x 1-in form.
Not much details have been shared but Jide is requesting for backers when the campaign starts on Kickstarter this July. Your $20 donation will already give you one unit of the Jide Remix Mini.
This small device is said to be a starter system for the Remix OS–a custom Android that allows multitasking multi-windows, physical keyboard optimization, keyboard shortcuts, and more. And when it’s ready for the market, Jide Technology said retail price would not go over $30.

This is a crowdfunded project, and as such may not deliver what its creators initially promise. Most crowdfunding sites, like Kickstarter and Indiegogo, have policies about what happens to your money if the project fails to deliver on its goals, but choosing to back a project is inevitably a risk. Android Community’s reporting on crowdfunded projects should in no way be seen as an endorsement, unless specifically stated, and we recommend closely examining the terms and conditions to understand your individual rights as a backer before making a pledge.
