NOKIA N1 Android tablet

Nokia doesn’t have any plans to rejoin the mobile industry and the decision is final. Instead, it will continue to keep its world-leading patent portfolio, license SEPs (standard-essential patents), and honor FRAND undertakings–and perhaps try to make it big in the tablet game by releasing more units for the Nokia N1.

We only got our hands on the Nokia N1 tablet last month at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona but we’ve seen it as early as November last year. The tablet was an unexpected but pleasant surprise but we weren’t sure if Nokia will release it anytime soon. But looks like Nokia is ready to bring the tablet to the global market after being made available and successful in China since January.

In a special event in Taiwan, Nokia unveiled the N1 Android slate. The tablet will be available in the country next month with a $268 price tag ((8,190 TWD). No word though when the N1 will be ready in other regions but we’re hoping soon enough. We don’t doubt the tablet will be available in other regions but a US launch seems impossible.

To review, the N1 tablet features a 7.9-inch screen, 4:3 aspect ratio, 1536 x 2048 pixel resolution, 2.3 GHz 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 CPU, 5 MP front-facing camera, 8 MP rear camera, 32GB built-in memory, microSD card slot, and 2GB RAM. Battery is an impressive 5300 mAh battery and everything is packed in a 6.9mm-thin aluminum body.
