While HTC fans are anticipating for the arrival and announcement of the HTC One M9 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC 2015) in Barcelona next month, HTC is also believed to be working on a new variant of the One (M8). Rumor has it that there will be a One M8i, a mid-range smartphone version of its flagship brother.
The HTC One M8i is said to have the same specs as the oringal M8: 5-inch display screen, 2GB DDR4 RAM, microSD card slot, and BoomSound speakers. As for the chipsets, the HTC One M8i will be powered by a Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939) chip with two sets of four Cortex-A53 cores, one running at 1.7GHz and the other at 1.0GHz .
Other specs include a 13 megapixel camera, 5 megapixel front-facing camera, dual LED flash, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, and NFC connectivity. We’re not sure about the 3,000mAh battery but that seems good enough. Out of the box, the HTC One M8i is expected to run Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC’s Sense 7.0 UI.
Phone will be available in various colors similar to the HTC One (M8): silver, gray, and gold. Remember that this HTC One M8i is a mid-range alternative to last year’s HTC flagship Android phone. An HTC One M9 is expected to be announced at the MWC 2015 but the One M8i is more than welcome by those who want a more affordable smartphone.
