Yesterday, we said Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S5 is finally getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Today, we’ve got information that the AT&T variant of the same smartphone is getting an update. That’s good news but unfortunately, it’s only Android 4.4.4. No Android Lollipop yet but at least the Android 4.4.4 KitKat for the Galaxy S5 brings VoLTE (Voice over LTE) to the device. It’s about time AT&T Galaxy S5 owners get the kind of service too.
AT&T has officially pushed Android KitKat 4.4.4 to the Samsung Galaxy S5 together with some bug fixes, security updates, and miscellaneous improvements. The HD Voice capability is made possible by the VoLTE service. The network has added some important services like ATT Mail, AT&T Live, access to Uber, and remote support when needed.
Samsung Galaxy S5 owners should be getting the software the update in the next few days. Make sure you have at least 487MB of free space to be able to download and install the update. This Android 4.4.4 KitKat coming to AT&T is a welcome news but Android 5.0 Lollipop would have been better. It will come, AT&T customers just have to wait a bit.
Note that Samsung only announced the Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Galaxy S5 last December. It’s ready for Verizon but perhaps some fixes are still being made for AT&T. For now, AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 owners, go and enjoy HD Voice on your phone.
