Great news especially for those still unwilling to part ways with their old-ish HTC One M7 smartphones either for practical or sentimental reasons. XDA developer “LlabTooFer” confirmed that the MaximusHD 50.0.0 update, which the developer is dubbing as the “world’s first custom Android 5.0.2 and Sense 6.0 ROM” for the HTC One M7, is finally available.

The heavily-customized MaximusHD ROM is based on Android Lollipop 5.0.2 and Sense 6.0, with build number LRX22F. As if the significantly-better-than-Android Sense 6.0 isn’t enough, this custom mod coupled with Android Lollipop can thus be expected to let you squeeze significantly more out of your trustworthy and enjoyably reliable M7 unit. Updated kernel and OEM apps plus multiple pages support and an added settings search can be counted on to enhance the performance of your first generation HTC One smartphone. Reworked installation and aroma scripts and overall performance improvements are also included in this mod to make sure you can teach your old dog of an M7 new tricks that could probably put newer models to shame.

The update also promises to make your media experience with the HTC One M7 significantly better, as the MaximusHD offers excellent improvements for both camera and audio. The custom ROM adds new camera modes to your HTC One smartphone that can help you push the creative envelope while capturing your best (or maybe even your worst) moments to make for fond memories. All these while lessening the strain on your unit’s power supply, as the MaximusHD also carries battery improvements that can allow you to stretch your unit’s capabilities without having you looking for a charging port every now and then. For more information on the installation and the downloads needed, check the official XDA thread here.

You won’t need to root your M7 unit after installing the recommended firmware (7.15.401.1) as it has already been rooted for your added convenience. Like any tinkering job, it is best to back up your precious data as a full wipe is required to install the MaximusHD ROM. It would also be a good idea to check the compatibility of this mod for your unit to avoid any potential headaches, as it has also been announced late last year that the last-generation model of the HTC One M7 is slated to receive the Android Lollipop 5.0 update any time now.
