lg dual edge active bending

The next Samsung flagship, the Galaxy S6, has yet to be formally announced but looks like it will have an early rival in the form of the next LG smartphone. Samsung is rumored to have a dual edge display and LG is also believed to working on the same idea. This could just be a concept but we know LG is also interested in flexible displays just like the other South Korean giant.

This week at the CES 2015, LG made the G Flex 2  official. This isn’t the dual edge display phone yet but the company has already developed a “Dual Edge” display technology. It could be the used in the next flagship Android phone.

We’re not 100% sure about this one but it’s believed that LG showcased the new display in a private show. It’s initially known as the “Active Bending” display which other manufacturers could also be interested in. Rumor has it that Xiaomi would like to use the new display technology and it could be on the Xiaomi Arch.

We don’t doubt about LG’s plan. The image above clearly shows that the “Active Bending” display is real. We just don’t know how exactly LG is planning to make use of the technology.

The LG Display unit is 6-inches diagonal but with low HD resolution. This may not be the final product but just a demo unit only. Who knows, LG could be preparing another version with 1080p or 2K resolution for the next LG G4. We’re anticipating it will challenge the yet-to-be revealed Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. We’ll see.
