Just the other day, Apple released an official fix for ex-iMessage users. These new Android fans reportedly are experiencing problems in receiving text messages on numbers that were previously registered on iMessage. With the new tool, you can deregister your old number and completely forget about iMessage.
Your cellphone number erased from Apple’s SMS system may be enough for some. It’s already a welcome solution but apparently, some people won’t give up a fight. Also on this new Apple case is Judge Lucy Koh who has been dealing with the likes of Apple, Samsung, and other tech giants.
A former iPhone user named Adrianne Moore filed a lawsuit against Apple regarding the issue earlier this 2014. According to Ms. Moore, the Cupertino company owed her some cash because of a disruption in her Verizon contract. She said she wasn’t receiving messages on her Samsung Galaxy S5 after switching from an iPhone 4. She’s seeking an unspecified amount for the hassle Apple has caused her.
Moore is summoning a California unfair competition law. She said that messages for her were being blocked by Apple. Of course, lawyers of Apple did not agree with her claims. They exclaimed, “Apple takes customer satisfaction extremely seriously, but the law does not provide a remedy when, as here, technology simply does not function as plaintiff subjectively believes it should.”
The Moore vs. Apple case was filed last May 15, 2014 at a U.S. District Court in Northern District of California. Judge Koh said Moore should show how Apple disrupted her Verizon Wireless service contract. Koh said, “Plaintiff does not have to allege an absolute right to receive every text message in order to allege that Apple’s intentional acts have caused an actual breach or disruption of the contractual relationship.”
