Today at an NVIDIA event, Portal for Android was shown in live gameplay on the SHIELD. From the video (which we’ve included below, of course) we see smooth play, free of any stuttering or hiccups. From the looks of things, the Portal port to Android is just as smooth as it ever was on an Xbox.
We’d heard a few weeks back about Portal coming to SHIELD, but didn’t expect to be seeing it so soon. While it may lose something on the small screen, SHIELD gets around that pretty easily with superb gameplay. The graphics also don’t miss a beat, rendering smoothly throughout. For mobile gaming fans, this is a big step forward.
There is still no word on whether or not Portal is coming to other Android devices. It seems to be an NVIDIA thing, but we’re not sure if they’re bringing it to their other devices. It seems as though it should work with their chipset, which has had trouble finding a home after the Nexus 7 in 2012, but it’s out there.
Even if it’s only a SHIELD thing, we’re impressed. The gameplay looks the part, and the ability to not be tethered to a living room console is always a plus. Check out the video below and let us know what you think in our comments section!
