Samsung has offered up a date for Galaxy S5 preorders. The date is March 28th and applies to those in the UK. Details coming from Samsung include how the Galaxy S5 preorders will be available from “selected” retailers. Also worth noting, the handset will be available direct from Samsung, as well as from the Stratford Westfield Experience Store.
Simply put, those in the UK will be able to preorder the Galaxy S5 a bit later in the month. Nicely, this preorder date comes after the HTC announcement, which ultimately means potential buyers should be able to make more of an informed decision. Otherwise, further chatter from Samsung touched on how the Galaxy S5 will be “available globally through Samsung’s retail channels, e-commerce and carriers on April 11.”
Samsung originally announced the Galaxy S5 during the Unpacked event which took place during Mobile World Congress. The handset was announced alongside some other products including the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit. The specs for the Galaxy S5 include a 5.1-inch display at 1920 x 1080, quad-core processor, up to 32GB of internal storage space, microSD card slot, a 2800 mAh battery, and a 16MP rear-facing camera.
The handset will debut with Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat, and also with a few sensors and other extras. These goodies include a fingerprint scanner and a built-in heart rate monitor. The Galaxy S5 also sports an IP67 rating which means it will be dust and water resistant. Those considering the Galaxy S5 may benefit from our hands-on coverage, which took place during MWC 2014.
