Coming just about a year after the Redbox Instant app launched in the Google Play Store, the app has arrived in the Amazon Appstore for those using a Kindle Fire. More to the point, newer models of the Kindle Fire. The app is dubbed Redbox Instant by Verizon and it is not to be confused with the previously existing Redbox by Redbox app.
The app is free to download, however those looking to take full advantage of the app will need to have an active Redbox Instant streaming account. But with that in mind, there is more to the app than just streaming movies. Similar to the Redbox Instant app found in the Play Store, the Amazon Appstore version also lets you reserve a DVD from your local Redbox.
The positive aspect of being able to use the app to reserve a movie locally — this not only makes up for any potential shortcomings in availability, but also makes it easier for you to use the 4 DVD credits that come as part of your streaming account. In addition to streaming movies and reserving movies, the app can also be used to rent and purchase movies that can then be downloaded for offline viewing.
Otherwise, a Redbox Instant account is $8 per month and at present, it looks like new users can grab a one month free trial. And lastly, as for the Kindle Fire models, that list includes the 7 and 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX as well as the Kindle Fire HD and second-generation Kindle Fire.
