With Motorola’s new line of devices came a lot of great things. Touchless notifications, stellar build quality, and the familiar Maxx lineup was refreshed for Verizon. The Moto X showed us that specs don’t always matter, either. What we didn’t get was support for some peripheral devices, but that’s all changed now.
Motorola has fixed an issue which left those with plug-in peripherals such as Square reader unable to use a new Motorola device. This also affects items like the Jawbone Up, both if which require support, and are not passive. Now, Motorola owners can use their Square card reader or other peripheral as they please.
Motorola has been really good about support for their newest lineup of devices, and this fix has been a long time in the making. Users have been mildly vocal about their wish to use such devices for some time, and Motorola has vowed support would be coming. We’re not used to Motorola being so quick to update and fix things, but we like it.
Wearables and other peripherals are set to encompass a greater deal of our tech purchases, according to some studies. OEMs such as Samsung are heavily developing support for all kinds of health monitors and the like, while Square is increasingly becoming a point-of-sale maverick, even landing big clients like Starbucks. This is a timely, and needed, update from Motorola.
