Samsung released details on the Android 4.3 Premium Suite update earlier today. At the time it was said the update would be arriving for several devices including the Galaxy S 4, Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. Of course, as we expect — the timing of the update depends on the individual carriers. Anyway, while the changelog has yet to hit the Verizon website, Samsung has detailed the update for the Verizon Galaxy S 4.
Despite that last bit, the Samsung site does have the release date listed as being October 28th. We have yet to hear any reports of this arriving on user devices, however it does suggest the update will be coming sooner rather than later. With that being said, the Verizon Galaxy S 4 update will be pushed over-the-air and is listed as being Software Update 3 (SU3) and as version I545VRUEMJ7.
The changelog is on the short side and includes the following;
- Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
- Samsung Galaxy Gear support
- Samsung KNOX support
- LTE Band 4 has been enabled
- Group Play v2.5 (this is the version found on the Galaxy Note 3)
Otherwise, unlike the previous updates on the Samsung Galaxy S 4 support pages, there was not mention of the file size. As for what we heard from Samsung earlier in the day — this update would be starting today and rolling out over the coming weeks. The real surprising part here, Verizon generally isn’t known for being first in terms of Android updates.
That all being said, given the Galaxy Gear support is now coming to additional handsets, our earlier coverage may be beneficial for some. We have our Galaxy Gear hub for complete coverage, but have also posted a review roundup and included mention of the smartwatch in our Galaxy Note 3 review.
