Early this year, Samsung teased the world with HomeSync, combining the power of a media center with the versatility and convenience of a personal cloud, all in one small package that sits prettily in your living room. As promised, that device is now finally available worlwide, starting with the US.
As an Android device, the Samsung HomeSync is quite formidable, sporting a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of flash memory and a whooping 1 TB hard drive. But, of course, the device is meant to be well connected and is thus gifted with a bevy of connectivity ports and features such as WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 ports, HDMI out, micro USB, and NFC for easing pairing with devices. Running Android, HomeSync has access to hundreds of apps via Google Play Store and Samsung Apps store.
But specs alone don’t make the HomeSync special. As a personal or home cloud solution, HomeSync allows for easy uploading of media such as photos from registered devices. And viewing those photos, music, and files from any mobile device is just as easy via the Samsung Link app. As a media center, HomeSync allows streaming of media to and from mobile devices or mirroring content from a mobile device to a TV. Samsung Galaxy devices can also act as remote controls for HomeSync, which, as mentioned earlier, can act as an Android device on its own. The device allows for up to 8 users, each of which can can link up to 6 devices. Samsung has released a video explaining HomeSync’s various features, which you can watch below.
The Samsung HomeSync comes in only one color configuration, sporting a black body with a silver front plate. Samsung has not announced pricing details yet, but our last information puts the price tag at $299.

it is interesting, but with rokus and ATV pegging the price points low, it will probably be difficult to get a huge market going.
I think back to the first GTV launch, and it was wicked expensive, even though it , in theory, did so much more than a roku, but the price kept many away.
I also find it interesting that Samsung is doing their own thing with android (like their watch and now their tv box) instead of the “google blessed” offerings (Gem / GTV)
I was wondering if you can connect more than one television to it, It says you can connect up to six digital devices. I had to get two Logitech devices. They are about 3 years old now and running out of memory. The price is not terribly bad if it can get one and get rid of the two I have …
